Fall and Spring Scholastic Book Fairs

What is the Scholastic Book Fair? The Book Fair is a fun and easy way for your whole family to discover new books together. Watch for a flyer to come home with a sample of the many books, from the latest titles to old favorites, which you’ll find at the fair. There are also books for adults, teens and preschoolers.

Who can come to the Book Fair? Everyone is invited! All Whittier students will visit the sale with their classes and fill out wish lists of books that interest them. We hope you and your family will stop in.

Also, the Book Fair is a great way to get involved with the school community.  Look for chances to sign up to volunteer setting up, working the cash register, or packing things up at the end of the Fair.

Where is the Book Fair? The fair is held in the Auditorium.

When is the Book Fair? We have two Book Fairs every year that coincide with parent/teacher conferences.  This year:

Wednesday, October 24 – Friday, October 26
Wednesday, January 30 – Friday, February 1

How does the Book Fair work? Use your child’s wish list to help you decide which books to buy. You may pay for books using cash, credit cards or checks made out to the Whittier PTO. If you send money with your child, remember that Scholastic requires us to charge sales tax.  Also, the Fair is open for shopping during parent/teacher conferences.

Special Attractions at the Book Fair

Classroom Wish Lists: Check out the classroom wish lists. You can purchase a special book for your child’s classroom. The book will have a name plate in the front identifying your child as the donor.

All For Books: Help support Scholastic’s All for Books program. Scholastic will match every dollar we collect by donating up to one million books to three national non-profits that help kids and families in need: Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.; Kids in Need Foundation; and Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Make a difference by dropping your loose change in the All for Books jar and help support our local OPRF Food Pantry Books to Devour program.

Student Estimation Jar: Remember the estimation jar at the check-out table. Encourage your child to write down his/her name, classroom and guess. Results will be tallied Friday. The best estimators will receive a book worth $10 from the fair.
